“Speaker Mike Johnson’s decision to insert a four-month extension of federal surveillance programs in the annual Pentagon policy bill has sparked an uproar among House conservatives, who want the nation’s surveillance laws reformed,” Punchbowl News reports.
“Johnson spent the last week or so all over the map on FISA.
Johnson first said he would extend the program until Feb. 2, then he nixed inserting FISA in the NDAA before relenting to the rest of the Big Four and agreeing to the four-month stopgap.”
