The Pontiff protects freedom of speech, however, declares that it is impossible to insult the faith of others.
The Pope made this statement while in the way from Sri Lanka to the Philippines, where is a home to more than just Asian Catholics.
In connection with the attack against Charlie Hebdo Pope Francis said that there are limits to freedom of expression, and that "you cannot make fun of the faith". The Pontiff agree that freedom of speech is a fundamental human right, however, emphasizes that "every religion has its dignity."

The Pope just showed he is not very well versed in the teachings of Christ:"But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." Matthew 5:39.What would being violent towards Dr. Gasparri accomplish, Francis? Would it help your mother in any way?It would simply make your EGO feel better, Francis, and that is not a good thing. Now if Dr. Gasparri threatened your mother in some way then you may do something to prevent the harm. But to react in such a way in regards to a verbal insult?....I am amazed a leader of a major Christian denomination would get it so wrong.

The Pope's suggestion about limits on freedom of speech plays right in the into the hands of people who are torturing and killing Christians. It's the last thing he should be saying now.
