“The court’s Dobbs v Jackson decision opened the door to states banning or severely restricting abortion access. But it also sparked a drive by backers of abortion rights to put the issue on ballots in the November election.
And many of those initiatives are gaining traction while the opposition has faltered.”“The effort to put the issue in front of voters keeps it solidly in the middle of the closely contested presidential race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.”
