After Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) blasted Democrats in a political speech over the weekend, state Senate Democrats put his proposed $2 billion development for a professional basketball and hockey arena on ice — at least for now, the Richmond Times Dispatch reports.

Aftyn Behn (D) beat David Hooven (R) in a special election for the Tennessee state House, the Tennessean reports. Daily Kos notes Behn outperformed 2020 results by nine percentage points. In special elections so far this year, Democrats are outperforming by an average of 7.4 percentage points.

In a major victory for abortion rights, Ohio Issue 1 — a measure to raise the threshold to pass a state constitutional amendment — failed by an overwhelming margin. It’s hard to overstate how big a victory this is for Democrats.
